To achieve high efficiency in Chinese language teaching and learning, we are developing this system of web applications. It is designed to provide students around the world with a scientific online assistance up to the highest possible academic standard in Chinese language study, to overcome the limitations in time, space, availability of teachers and learning materials.
For the enormous support that we have received, we specially thank the Chinese language professionals at the United Nations, Education Testing Services, Overseas Chinese Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, Ministry of Education, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, China’s National Language Commission, Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language of the State Council, People's Education Press, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Renmin University of China.
Our system now includes 3 major online courses for members only: (1)Standard Chinese, based textbook series compiled by People's Education Press of the Ministry of Education; (2)Chinese, based on textbook series sponsored by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council; and (3)Daily Dialog, emphasizing on spoken part of Chinese based on a serious linguistic studies conducted by our experts from Beijing and the UN. We have integrated the knowledge and experience of our language teaching professionals with the most advanced Internet technologies into this online assistance to help the schools and teachers, as well as all the individual students around the world learning Chinese as a foreign language in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Students, on completing all the courses designed in OCLA together with the related conventional classroom study, will master all the Chinese characters in "the National Standard Contemporary Everyday Chinese" formulated by Ministry of Education. Their Chinese proficiency will reach the Primary Level (Grade 3-5) in the National Test of Chinese (HSK), which means the students will be able to handle daily affairs in a Chinese language environment, and to obtain the National Admitted Chinese Language Qualification for college admission in China as a non-Chinese speaking student.
